Compare And Contrast

I have chosen to compare and contrast dog lovers vs. cat lovers in this essay. The purpose of this essay is to compare and contrast the differences of cat lovers vs. dog lovers and to also show their common traits as animal lovers. I chose this topic because I spend a lot of time with pet owners in my profession. Being a pet lover myself I find that I am more of a dog person. I feel like this will be a fun compare and contrast essay to write.

Judy Brady, I Want A Wife, The Bedford Reader, p360

Judy Brady’s essay “ I Want A Wife” Is about the daily struggles of an unappreciated housewife in the 1970’s. The main point of Brady’s essay is that society is very sexist, that it is a man’s world and women are expected to honor and obey their husbands. Women are expected to put their own wants and needs aside and focus solei on their children and their husbands wants and needs.  I think the purpose of this article is to spotlight the issue of sexism and for women to relate and gain the courage to standup for their own needs and happiness.

Christina Hoff Sommers, Men-It’s In Their Nature, The Bedford Reader, p365

Sommers essay “ Men- It’s Their Nature” is about the differences in gender on a biological level. Sommers’ points out that no matter how hard we try to tone down masculinity by taking away games and toys from boys, typically found in their classrooms and bedrooms and replace them with gender neutral toys and games, Boys are still going to want to do masculine things like construction and serving in the military. Instead of taking these toys and games away it is better to teach the child at a young age how to be a respectful honorable man. The purpose of this article is to communicate that good values do not come from what our children are playing with. Good values come from the parent and the home the child is being raised in.

I choose to use Christina Hoff Sommers essay “Men-It’s In Their Nature” to write about in my analytical essay.

Blog Post #2

I had high hopes of a great time as I rode shotgun with my three best girlfriends to the airport.  The anticipation of arriving at our final destination was like electricity in the air as we sang our favorite songs at the top of our lungs. We laughed and told stories and talked about life, which helped pass the time of the three-hour drive.

We cheered as we exited the interstate to get to the airport. We navigated as a team through the unfamiliar city until we found our parking lot. We parked the car, unloaded our bags and hoped on the first shuttle we saw. We felt accomplished as we sat on the plane waiting for take off. In just two short hours we will be at our final vacation destination.

After we landed and picked up our bags we headed outside to the curb to hail a cab to our hotel. The feeling of the hot dry air was like a shock compared to the cold damp climate we were used to and it felt very nice.

The cab ride was very exciting. We enjoyed the sights of all the glitzy advertising as we rode down the boulevard to our extravagant roman themed resort in the desert.
After we checked into our room we looked out the windows and reveled in the view of the Eiffel tower, the skyline of NY, NY, the Pyramids of Egypt, and the canals of Venice. ALL ON THE SAME STREET!!!

We freshened up and set our to our first night on vacation, our first night on the town together. The night had endless possibilities and what happens here, stays here!
